Admittedly, I’m usually pretty bad at getting back to people’s emails because I’m busy. (And by “busy” I mean “lazy” and by “lazy” I mean “watching Netflix.”) So I thought I’d just compile all the most frequently asked questions into this handy-dandy list and answer them already.
I heard you’re a travel blogger. So how many countries have you been to?
Seriously? You’re going to start things off by asking me a question that requires both math and a working memory?
I see how it’s going to be.
Well, most of my traveling and living overseas experience has been in Asia — particularly Japan, China, Thailand and Malaysia. But I’ve also been to Korea, Nepal, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam and a few other places I can’t remember right now.
Outside of Asia, I lived and worked for a while in the UK, Ireland and Brazil, and I’ve spent some time traveling in various European countries, Morocco and Australia.
Oh, yeah, and Canada… Canada counts, right?
Where are you from originally?
And, yes, I’m totally picky when it comes to Buffalo wings.
Where are you now?
Yeah, I know, weird, right?
Wait, what? But I thought this was a travel blog?
Well, it was. Kind of.
And still is. Kind of.
I mean, I still write about travely stuff. But I also write about other stuff.
What kind of “other stuff”?
That kind of thing.
What do you mean “kind of thing”? That isn’t any “kind of thing” at all! I thought blogs were supposed to have a topic. It sounds like you just write about whatever comes to mind.
Exactly! Finally, someone that gets me!
Uggh. Fine. So are you REALLY a scaredy cat?
Yes. I really am.
I’m scared of everything from high heels to ceiling fans. I will never, ever, EVER jump out of an airplane. And I break out into hives if I have to do any kind of public speaking.
Do you have any advice for fellow scaredy cats on how we, too, can just go out and do all that stuff that scares the bejesus out of us?
Just do whatever it is. You probably won’t die.
And if that doesn’t work, find a pushy friend who will make you do it.
I heard you also taught English overseas. Have any advice on that?
I wanna be a famous travel blogger and get paid lots of money to travel around the world. How do I do that?
I have no idea. It took me forever to get anyone besides my mom to read my blog. But when you find out, let me know, okay?
Can you please put this link/ad/guest post on your blog for me? Maybe I’ll pay you. Maybe I won’t.
But it’s a really REALLY, REALLY GREAT GUEST POST. And I’m just going to give it to you for free! What a deal!
Will you write a guest post/do an interview for my blog?
Remember what I said about being too busy (aka lazy) to write emails to people?
Well, that also applies to my writing guest posts or doing interviews.
But every once in a while I surprise myself and actually do something for other people. You can contact me with your request, and, who knows, you may hit me on one of the days when I’m not being so busy/lazy.
Do you accept free trips, hotel stays, tours or products in exchange for writing a review?
I only accept free stuff if it’s something I’m really interested in and I think it’s something my readers would be interested in.
And, well, you know, writing reviews is kind of hard work. Or at least a lot harder work than watching Netflix..
I, of course, am always open to accepting gifts of free cream puffs, though.
I also occasionally include affiliate links on my site to different products and services I use — this means that if you click on the link and buy the product or service I’ll make a little bit of money at no extra cost to you. Which means more cream puffs for me!Have any other questions for me? Write them in the comments below. Or don’t. I’m kind of tired answering your questions anyway. Sheez!
